WHO DOES YOUR ORGANIZATION SERVE?

ACCESS (or AirCraft Casualty Emotional Support Services) provides grief support for people affected by or involved in air disaster-related tragedies. We do so by partnering those who have survived or lost loved ones in air disasters with professionally trained volunteers who have experienced similar tragedies in years past. Our goal is to help the bereaved gain renewed strength, hope, and purpose” enabling them to cope with the present and prepare for the future.

WHAT IS THEIR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

Though grief symptoms are unique to an individual, those who have lost a loved one in an air disaster tend to experience the following similar emotions including hopelessness, isolation, despair, and confusion. The overwhelming shock of the tragic event may then cause post-traumatic stress symptoms which can lead to long term depression, family difficulties, or an inability to function socially or at work.

HOW DO YOU HELP THEM?

We work with the grieving from the minute a plane goes down, for as long they need help to alleviate their emotional devastation and provide the following:

  • Emotional support
  • Information about other organizations and their roles in the aftermath of a crash, helping those in crisis become aware of the resources available to them.
  • Comfort and bereavement support through common understanding and shared experience by partnering survivors and those who have lost loved ones in air disasters with trained Volunteer Grief Mentors who have been through a similar experience.
  • Sensitivity training presentations and workshops to companies, agencies and airlines who work with those affected by aviation disasters.
  • Consulting services to companies and airlines that respond to individuals affected by air disasters.
