WHO DOES YOUR ORGANIZATION SERVE?
Red Nose Grief & Loss (formally known as SIDS and KIDS) supports bereaved families of children who die suddenly and unexpectedly from any cause. We also educate parents, health professionals and the community throughout Australia with one goal in mind: to reduce the number of infant and child deaths.
WHAT IS THEIR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
We understand the sudden or unexpected death of a baby or young child is one of the most difficult experiences any person will face. It has been described as the ‘ultimate loss’, a loss of hopes and dreams, a loss of part of oneself as a parent, the loss of a role and purpose in society, a loss of a future with your child. This grief is not only painful, but profoundly disorienting – children are not supposed to die.
HOW DO YOU HELP THEM?
We support new moms and dads on their journey after the death of a child as well as provide services to health care professionals, carers and general practitioners:
- Education- Search our library for helpful articles, questions & answers, and downloadable brochures.
- Programs- Red Nose programs provide Health Care Professionals, Carers and GPs with a range of resources for their practice or child care centre on safe sleeping in a care environment, grief and loss information and referral service and accredited online training.
- Advocacy & Research- We support research into the causes and prevention of sudden infant and child death.
- Grief & Loss- We connect individuals and families to a range of support options, useful resources and information. We offer support to parents, family and friends, professionals, as well as provide peer support.
